Full-time community managers across France report an average salary of €30,709 per year, or roughly €2,559 per month. The median salary, which splits earners evenly, sits at €30,000 annually (about €2,500 per month). Salary differences by job title
Not all social-media professionals are labelled “community manager.” Here’s how titles stack up:
- Community Manager and Communications Officer: median €28,000 per year (€2,330/month)
- Social Media Manager: median €33,500 per year (€2,790/month)
As you’d expect, stepping up to a social media manager position can boost your pay by almost 20% compared with more junior roles.
Earnings by years of experience
Experience pays off—literally:
- Under five years: median €28,000 (up from €27,000)
- Five to nine years: median €32,000 (up from €30,000)
- Ten years and beyond: median €37,500 (up from €31,000)
I’ve seen this play out among friends: those hitting the decade mark often find their negotiations met with bigger offers, reflecting hard-won expertise.
Compensation by company size
Company scale also shapes pay packets:
- Micro-enterprises (under 9 employees): €25,000
- SMEs (under 250 employees): €29,000
- Mid-caps (under 5,000 employees): €32,500
- Large corporations (5,000+ employees): €38,000
While salaries in small outfits saw a modest rise, big-company wages dipped slightly compared to the previous survey.
Paris versus regional pay gap
Location matters. In Paris, community managers enjoy a median salary of €36,000, compared with €28,000 elsewhere in France. Year-on-year, pay improved by 2.8% in the capital and 3.7% in the provinces, according to the online survey by BDM.
Gender pay gap
Despite progress, men still earn more:
- Men: average €31,261 (median €30,000)
- Women: average €30,280 (median €29,000)
The gender pay gap narrowed to 3.2%, down from 8.5% in the previous report—a welcome trend but one that shows there’s more work to be done.
